Carthnage is an electronic bass and house project where we explore our love for Arabic and North-African sounds.

Having released UK Garage, Grime, Trap and Latin Bass with our concurrent project Diezmo, we felt it’d be a good idea to start a new project where we could focus on a more ethnic-influenced sound.

For the EP we used samples of old recordings as starting point and built the songs around them. We researched and listened to a lot of traditional music to try and find inspiring elements to get our creativity going.

Alf Leila we Leila is a UK Bass/Deep House with a slightly odd rhythm section of only 3 kicks per bar, as opposed to the usual 4. The breaks are clearly influenced by the sounds of UK Drum & Bass. Lamman Galo is a Dembow based song with a melodic bassline and funky guitars as main elements.There are a couple of pop-sounding elements but the song structure is progressive and weird enough to bring the tune back to the underground.

We hope we’ve made something special and unique by sampling traditional songs and mixing them with varied forms of modern electronic music.
