How did Tropikalia come to be

University of Tropical of Sound collective started work in early 2016 with the aim expanding the Tropical scene in London following on the steps of promoters such as Movimientos and Arriba la Cumbia and inspired by the work carried out by promoters and labels in Spain such as Guacamayo Tropical and Caballito.

In its short existence UTS has organised three London events showcasing local and international acts such as Rafael Aragon, Fusao, Tash LC and Pete On The Corner.

In June 2016 UTS was invited to participate in the eco-friendly festival Tropical Camp organised by Tierra Candela in Avila, Spain. The event was a great opportunity to network and to talk to various artist about making a song compilation rounding up some of the best sounds of the summer.

With the involvement of Colombian collective Invazion, the search for the best tunes of the summer concluded with a selection of tracks spanning across genres such as Tropical Bass, Cumbia, Rumba, 8bit, Moombahton and NeoFolklore.
